Back in the work grove after a very busy fall and Christmas season. In the shop I made both dragonfly stakes and hanging dragonfly's, crow arches, and a mid sized mermaid. This mermaid is different than I have done before as it is back welded  like on some of the full sized mermaids for scales and top welded details also, to simplify the look a bit.

The crow arches are always fun to do and I still love the diversity of the picture the metal crow makes in his recycled metal nest with a twig of some kind in it's beak. Below is a close up picture of a container of glass leaves that are used for decoration. One of the days was also used to draw, on a 10 foot sheet of metal, a lifesize mermaid, animal garden stakes, and hooks and ornaments that I need to do to replenish and build up my supplies for the winter and spring shows. The plan is to work so far ahead that I can take a longer summer break this year, all work and no play...you get the picture. Below you will see a beautiful decorative piece made from an old round saw blade surround by another ban saw blade, then filled with dirt, succulents, and candles added, it can be hung or sit on a table top.
My chickens finally laid the first egg in three months! They moulted in the fall and are obviously  now getting enough light which means spring is just around the corner too, that made my day. They are a variety of heritage  breeds so lay eggs with different colour shells like Easter eggs. The hummingbirds of the neighbourhood have found the new feeder and the sparrows are starting think about ownership of some of the birdhouses.
